Greyhound Racing: Record-breaker College Maybe faces tough heat

Published 06/02/2013 | 04:00

It's amazing how often you find all the hotpots pitched in together in heats of sweepstakes and there is a real classic in prospect at Limerick on Saturday night in the second semi-final of the Vetsearch Feramo D Open 525.

  • Go To

Following her sensational track record 27.95 run in the second round, College Maybe is set to face three other heat winners in addition to flying early pacer Dear Pa and flying finisher Gizmo Classic.

The other semi-final also looks a very open affair and any of the six could be expected to go close.

Having reached a massive €140,000 last Saturday, the Pick 6 Intertrack Jackpot pool will start off from scratch again and this time it will be kick-started by a guaranteed €15,000 pool.

The 19 winners last week placed their bets at Shelbourne Park (8), Limerick (3), Clonmel (2) and Cork (1), while five of the units were bet online via www.igb.ie.

The online betting amounted to €50,000 of the €98,350 staked on the night.

One of the winners placed a bet of just €24.

This week's Pick 6 will again operate on races 7, 8 and 9 at Limerick and then races 10, 11 and 12 at Shelbourne Park.

The Clonmel Festival of Racing came to a conclusion on Monday with a number of finals, including two open events.

The eagerly anticipated sprint decider was won by the Michael O'Donovan- trained Stonepark Crash, which stormed up the inside rail to lead into the bend and then won handsomely from Cambushmore in 16.31.

The other open event was the Red Mills Unraced Plate and here Pat Larkin's Blue Talent easily justified favouritism when beating Comeragh Coyote by over eight lengths in 29.10.

Fastest

COLLEGE MAYBE didn't just set a track record at Limerick last Saturday; her time of 27.95 was the fastest ever clocked by a bitch for 525 yards in this country.
