Greyhound racing: Gain Feeds Irish Cesarewitch
The biggest crowd may be at Shelbourne tonight but there will be a full house at Mullingar to witness what promises to be a fascinating final to the Gain Feeds Irish Cesarewitch.
This 600-yard classic has a record of throwing up repeat winners and Definate Opinion will be bidding to follow in the steps of Bonus Prince and Roan Hurricane which successfully defended their titles.
Trained by Pat Guilfoyle, Definate Opinion has won all his seven races at Mullingar and has never even been pushed close.
But the Dolores Ruth-trained Kingo is a massive rival and has won all eight races he has contested at the Midlands venue.
There is virtually nothing between the pair on the clock and they are set for a battle royal.
They should dominate, and a very tight vote goes to Definate Opinion.
Shelbourne Park hosts the second round of the College Causeway/ Killahan Phanter Easter Cup.
Dolores Ruth will have to decide between Mullingar and Shelbourne where she has Razldazl George and Makeshift in action.
Razldazl George is favourite to win the competition and he will be strongly fancied to win Heat 4 where he will probably have to catch fast-starting Asisola again. Makeshift has prospects in Heat 3 but will need to step up on his limited form this year in a race where Slippery Bob is ideally drawn and with reigning champion Thurlesbeg Joker also drawn to perfection.
Long-range fancy Broadstrand Lad cannot afford a repeat of last week's fluffed start in a hot opening heat where Quick Lee and Fatboyz Tyson will be difficult to beat, while Mozzletoff may be the one in a tricky second heat.
The McCarthy Insurance Group Cork Oaks starts at Curraheen Park while the first round of the Red Mills Produce Stakes finishes at Clonmel tomorrow evening.
