It's a weekend of Classic action on both sides of the Irish Sea, with the main focus on the semi-finals of the Williamhill.com English Derby at Wimbledon, where a much reduced Irish team of three dogs will bid for prized places in next Saturday's final.
Despite the trauma of Tuesday night's quarter- finals, Irish hopes remain high, with a double via Barefoot Bullet and Razldazl George very much on the cards.
Paul Hennessy's Bullet has been getting stronger with each round and, despite a tricky draw, he can get around the opening bend without too much difficulty and then put his great strength to full effect. Taylors Sky is obviously the one to beat.
The trap-one factor clearly didn't help Razldazl George on Tuesday and he is much better housed in two this evening. He has great pace from halfway and he can prove too strong for Nambisco. Pa Fitzgerald's Melodys Royal is also entitled to a very big say.
There is another massive card at Shelbourne, with the second-round heats of the Sporting Press Irish Oaks the main attraction.
The big race is Heat 2, where Mozzletoff is likely to go off favourite, but may be outpointed on this occasion by Cool It Baby, which has been quite superb in recent outings.
Droopys Twirl may just get the better of Lady Lucielle in Heat 7, while Shelbourne Abi can enhance her Shelbourne record by getting the better of Mutual Decision and Avalon Honey in Heat 5.
Down at Limerick, the second phase of Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger heats will be staged and the show stealer can be Pat Buckley's Paradise Casino in Heat 11. Also tonight, it is final time in the Lee Strand 550 at Tralee, where Des Kiely's Shaneboy Fantasy is the fancy.
5 pts Droopys Twirl 9.45 Shel Pk
3 pts Barefoot Bullet 8.35 Wimbledon
