French downhill skier Marion Rolland is said to be devastated after falling over five seconds into the women's downhill event at the Winter Olympics.
Rolland, who finished fifth in last year’s World Championships, only managed to make it a few metres from the starting gate before losing her balance and toppling over on to her right side.
Four years of training for her first Winter Olympics ended in tears and to make matters worse, the 27 year-old injured her knee in the process.
"Obviously, the morale is not too good," a spokeswoman for the French team said.
