Ireland will field a dressage team at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in September following a qualifying result for Judy Reynolds at the 3-Star international in Stadl Paura, Austria on Saturday, writes Louise Parkes.
Anna Merveldt and reigning Irish national champion Yvette Truesdale had already qualified having achieved scores over 65pc, and when Reynolds racked up 65.06pc with Remember in Saturday's Grand Prix, then team participation was secured.
Merveldt was runner-up in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Speciale with Coryolano.
Meanwhile, show jumpers Jessica Kuerten and Denis Lynch were in the money at the glamorous Saut Hermes fixture in Paris over the weekend, but the big bucks in yesterday's €200,000 Grand Prix eluded the Irish pair.
Olympic gold medallist Eric Lamaze held off Kuerten and Castle Forbes Cosma with Take Off in Saturday's GL Speed Event in which the Canadian snatched victory by one-third of a second.
And yesterday it was Lynch and Nabab's Son who finished second ahead of Kuerten and Myrtille Paulois in third, but in the Grand Prix the Irish contenders both faulted in the first round.
At Wellington in Florida on Saturday, Shane Sweetnam and Little Emir won the Suncast Classic while at home yesterday Alexander Butler topped the ninth leg of the HSI Chippison Spring Tour series at Barnadown in Wexford riding Carton Free.
