Equestrian: Breen joins ranks for world assault

Billy Twomey and Denis Lynch will be joined by Shane Breen in the pursuit of World Cup points in Lyon on Sunday, writes LOUISE PARKES.

Lynch has already collected 12 points and is lying 10th on the leaderboard, while Twomey is in 12th place with 10, but more than 40 points will be needed to qualify for the final in The Netherlands next April.

Tipperary man Breen, who has been based in Hickstead since his marriage to Chloe Bunn, will be making his World Cup season debut and is armed with Balloon, Cos I Can and Luikka.

Lynch brings Lantinus, Abbervail van het Dingeshof and Contifex, while Twomey is listed with both talented stallion Je T'Aime Flamenco and top mare Tinka's Serenade.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Slattery heads the Autumn Grand Prix League going into the next leg at Killossery Lodge Stud on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Mayo man scorched to victory on Captain's Magic Touch in a jump-off in Cavan last Sunday ahead of Derry rider John McLaughlin on Mr Blaney and he is now just just three points behind the series leader, Peter Smyth.
