Gold medallists Joe Ward and Michael Conlan and bronze medallist Dean Walsh led the national boxing squad into the terminal after achieving sporting glory for Ireland in Bulgaria.

Light heavyweight boxer Joe Ward, from Westmeath, bantamweight Belfast-native Michael Conlan and bronze medal-winning welterweight Dean Walsh from Wexford were inundated with congratulations from families, friends and supporters.

"I feel on top of the world," said Mr Conlan as he arrived.

The trio led a seven-strong team in Samokov, where the Irish scooped the honours over a tough few days in the rings at the championships.
