'Dozens' of Turks test positive in doping raids

THE International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has confirmed that Turkey has been the subject of a targeted drug-testing operation in recent weeks after it was revealed that "dozens" of Turkish athletes tested positive for banned drugs in IAAF anti-doping raids.

The world governing body is bound by World Anti-Doping Agency confidentiality rules preventing it from commenting on the spate of positive tests because the athletes are still awaiting the results of second tests on their 'B' samples.

However, doping on a massive scale was uncovered after Turkish athletes were tested both in and out of competition in the run-up to the Mediterranean Games held in Turkey.
