Fiona Doyle has prepared herself to watch a video nasty after finishing 13th in the 100m breaststroke at the European swimming championships in Berlin yesterday.
Doyle, who last summer won silver at the World University Games, had qualified 10th fastest for last night's semi-finals in 1:08.77 but could only improve that to 1:08.49 - well outside her personal best of 1:07.66, set last summer in Russia during the University Games.
Doyle still has the 50m and 200m breaststroke to come but she knows that even equalling her personal best would have placed her into tonight's 100m breaststroke final.
Sycerika McMahon and Brendan Hyland return to the pool today for the heats of the 200m Individual Medley and 200m butterfly, respectively.
McMahon missed out on a place in the 100m breaststroke semi-finals yesterday by four hundredths of a second after a season's best 1:09.23.
