Dog chat: Underdogs run riot

It was upsets all the way in the second round of the Tote Gold Cup at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night, with none of the favourites obliging and three of the four winners being returned at prices of 6/1 or more.

Fatboyz Tyson and Cians Fantasy shared the best time of 29.81. Fatboyz ran second for most of the journey behind Ballymac Tipp, but the Enniscorthy dog proved stronger on the run-in and got up to win by three parts of a length.

Cians Fantasy came flying out of traps, but was headed on the bend by Quick Lee. However, Cians Fantasy rallied strongly for a half-length margin over Quick Lee in 29.81.

The first heat saw Pat Guilfoyle's Joey Jojo Junior lead all the way in 30.02, while the second heat went to Paul Sharkey's Cian Abbey which won by a length from Hats My Boy in 30.06.

Fastest in the Roches Feeds Oaks at Limerick was the Patrick Buckley-owned Kiln Kylie, which won by six lengths from Tyrur Tinkerbell in 28.50. Just a spot behind on the clock was the John McGee-trained Cornamaddy Swift as she led all to beat the big finishing Borna Del by two and a half lengths in 28.51.

The star of Saturday's Kudos Supersprint heats at Curraheen Park was Graham Holland's Calling Spice, which had a length and a half victory over Vancouver Pedro in 17.70.
