Do the double

The fact that Celtic thrashed Aberdeen 9-0 last week and then got beaten 2-0 by Hearts on Wednesday is a pretty poor reflection on the quality of football played in the SPL -- and I'm being kind when I describe the league as average. That said, I still find the Old Firm clubs generally reliable from a betting point of view and the Hoops should easily bang a few goals past ninth-place St Mirren tomorrow afternoon.

Celtic's win odds of 1/3 are short, so for a bit more value, it's worth taking a chance on the over 2.5 goals bet at 4/6. The number of goals scored in this fixture averages 3.4 in the past 10 renewals, and that goal-count has crept up lately, with the latest game in August ending 4-0 in favour of the Bhoys -- an identical score-line to their previous clash in March. Fingers crossed, they stick to the script and we end up with another high-scoring affair in Paisley tomorrow.

HORSE RACING:

The race may have a long name, but the likely favourite, Baby Dottie, should make short work of her rivals in the Bet Cheltenham Open Meeting Betdaq Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Lingfield (1.30). I'm sure her connections must be getting a little frustrated, as she's put in some decent efforts in handicaps this year, but hasn't yet managed to get her head in front crossing the line. Via Aurelia will give her a run for her money, but the drop back to 6f should help and her early price of 6/4 is a couple of ticks too high.
