After beating George Groves in front of 80,000 people at Wembley to retain his IBF and WBA super-middleweight titles, Carl Froch appeared to drop to one knee and propose to long-term girlfriend Rachael Cordingley.
Members of Froch's team pointed and looked on in amazement as the 36-year-old popped the question to model Cordingley, with whom he has a son Rocco and a daughter Natalia.
But afterwards Froch denied that it was an official proposal, claiming instead that he was reminding Cordingley of his promise to marry her.
"I did ask Rachael a sneaky question after the fight but it's not official," Froch said.
"I told her how much I love her. I didn't actually officially propose to her. I was going to but I couldn't sort a ring out.
"I will be marrying Rachael one day. This is the most special moment of my life – the next will be wedding Rachael and making us a proper family, me, my kids and her.
"This night will be remembered for defending title.'
But when pressed as to how she responded to his question, Froch admitted; "she said 'yes'.”
