Deadly Arthur puts Wicklow to sword

By St Patrick's 3-11 Wicklow 2-9

Monday January 30 2012

For the second week in a row, Niall Arthur was the master, posting 10 points from play as the Drumcondra-based trainee teachers overcame Wicklow in Greystones.

Seven of the Clare man's points came in the first 25 minutes as he eased his side into a 0-7 to 0-3 lead.

Wicklow rallied to draw level at 0-7 apiece by the 34th minute but before the break St Patrick's corner-forward Kevin Nemmo slipped his marker to set up Canice Maher for a goal.

The home side again rallied early in the second half and a goal by impressive Patrick Farrell cut the margin to a single point, 1-8 to 1-7.

However, Lorcan French and Maher drilled home two more goals for St Patrick's before the end of the third quarter to seal victory.
