The 97th Giro d’Italia will make its way to Ireland next month and organisers are hoping to turn the city pink to mark the historic occasion.

One of the world’s greatest cycling events will take place on Sunday May 11th, with thousands of people set to line the streets of Dublin as the colourful Giro travels down the East coast.

To mark the fact that Giro’s race leader wears an iconic Pink Jersey, spectators and visitors are being urged to wear pink and observe this one of a kind occasion.

Two hundred of the world’s top cyclists will descend on Dublin, with the action beamed to a global TV audience of 775 million.

Dublin will be transformed into a festival city for the weekend of the Giro with themed cultural events and activities taking place throughout to entertain the thousands of visitors expected over the weekend.

The main hub will be the Giro Fan Park in Merrion Square, Dublin City, on May 10th and 11th which will include the Irish Cycling Show plus lots of Italian and cycling themed activities and foodie treats.
