Paul Kimmage’s Cycling Guide

Free in this week’s Sunday Independent

The Sunday Independent will publish a 24-page cycling supplement this Sunday, February 26. The magazine, inspired by award-winning sports journalist and former professional cyclist Paul Kimmage, will be a must-have resource for anyone with an interest in cycling, or those considering taking up the sport.

It will include Paul’s tips for beginners, including how to choose the right bike and clothing, selecting routes and safety on the road.

This superb free supplement also includes contributions from Colm O’Rourke, Eamonn Sweeney and Joe Brolly who bring to life their own relationships with the sport that is increasingly becoming know as ‘the new golf’.

There is also a comprehensive calendar from Cycling Ireland, with details of all the leisure events from around the country, while technology editor Adrian Weckler will review the latest cycling gadgets.

Kimmage, who shares the story of how he started cycling,  said: ‘I’ll never forget the thrill of watching my father racing his bike, or the joy I felt when he first took me out on the road. 40 years later I’m still in love with what I believe is the greatest sport in the world and I’d like to think that this magazine will inspire some people to fall in love too.’

Fitness instructor Shane Lyons gives exercise tips to help you get in the best physical shape for climbing into the saddle, plus what and when to eat when you’re planning your spin.

Readers will be inspired by the most iconic cycle routes and roads in Ireland and abroad – including Paul’s list of favourites.
