Chris Froome sits third in the overall standings at the Tour de Romandie after finishing in a reduced peloton on yesterday's stage two into Saint-Imier.
However, fellow Team Sky rider Geraint Thomas had to surrender the race leader's jersey after a badly-timed puncture on the final climb, with Orica-GreenEdge's Michael Albasini the new man in yellow after he took the stage win.
Froome also suffered a puncture, but was able to recover in time to get back into the lead pack, and he sits 10 seconds behind Albasini in the standings, with another Orica-GreenEdge rider Ivan Santaromita between the pair.
Froome's Sky team-mate Nicolas Roche finished in the leading group and indicated that he was on the mend from the injury he sustained in Sunday's Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
"After feeling bad still after crash yesterday, happy legs are turning round today," he tweeted. "Few more days and will be back to normal!"
