This is a novel event that is also likely to attract some serious runners up front as there is a top men's prize of €500 on offer, as well as €200 for the first woman to cross the line.

Both prizes will be awarded on the one condition that the winners wear a cape throughout the race.

On Sunday the road action continues in Park West in Dublin with the Irish Kidney Association's Run For A Life 5k race at 12.0.

date Correction

A correction is required for the date of the annual Hollymount, Co Mayo, International Festival of Road Races which takes place on Sunday, November 13 and not November 6 as listed in error on some fixture lists.

This annual race has been a regular fixture on the calendar since the 1960s and comes highly recommended.
