Conor McGregor’s next opponent will be American Dustin Poirier when he fights on the undercard in UFC 178 in Las Vegas on September 27th.
Fresh from his victory in Dublin last weekend, ‘The Notorious’ will be eagerly looking forward to taking on the the fighter ranked sixth in UFC’s UFC's featherweight division.
The Dubliner has made the top ten of the division for the first time following his technical knockout of Diego Brandao in front of a packed out O2 Dublin on Saturday night and will be his sternest test so far.
Poirier too is looking forward to the bout, stating on Monday that the Irish fighter is “over-hyped”.
"The guy (McGregor) runs his mouth too much,” the American said.
“Right off the bat I'm fired up about this guy. I can't believe the hype this guy is getting man ... I think he is over-hyped, no doubt about it, 100pc. This guy says he's going to take everyone's head off, well come get it Conor, I'm waiting."
Poirier is in no doubt as to what he feels will happen when the two men clash in September.
“It’s even more fun because the guy thinks he’s a God.”
“There’s only one thing that’s gonna happen, and that’s gonna be Conor McGregor getting whipped.”
