Capital gearing up for Dublin City Triathlon
Plans are well advanced for Europe's largest city park triathlon, the Gatorade Dublin City Triathlon, which takes place on August 28.
This popular event in the Phoenix Park has already attracted entries from all over Ireland, as well as Europe and further afield.
The event incorporates two races -- the standard Olympic-distance race (1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run) plus the Super Sprint (600m swim, 16km cycle and 4km run), aimed at new entrants to the sport.
Among the personalities taking part will be Boyzone and 'Coronation Street' star Keith Duffy.
With the popularity of the sport growing and awareness of the quality of Irish triathlon events spreading internationally, this year's Dublin race is a further indication of the tourism possibilities for Ireland from the sport.
An example of this is Geoffrey Gearing, from the UK, who will compete in the 75-79 year-old age category -- proof also that triathlon suits all ages.
Entry to the August 28 event can be accessed online at www.dublincity triathlon.com.

The start time for this race is 7.30pm and the entry fee is €6, of which €1 is donated to charity.
