Michael Conlan has paid tribute to Mike Towell following the Scottish fighter's tragic death.
The 25-year-old had to be stretchered from the ring after a fifth-round loss to Dale Evans in a St Andrews Sporting Club fight in Glasgow on Thursday night.
The young father, from Dundee, was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was diagnosed with severe bleeding and swelling to his brain and he sadly passed away last night.
"Terrible news, rest in peace Mike Towell. A risk every fighter takes when they step into the ring. Thoughts and prayers with his family," said Conlan on Twitter.
Barry McGuigan added: "My deepest sympathies and prayers to the family of Dundee boxer MikeTowell RIP who passed away during the night. Very sad for all involved."
