Ireland's Katie Taylor is one way from securing her place at the Rio Olympics after overpowering Denmark's Yvonne Rasmussen at the European qualifiers for Rio in Samsun, Turkey today.
The London 2012 gold medallist recorded a unanimous victory over the Dane and advances to the semi-final of the tournament. She must make the decider to clinch a place on the plane to Rio.
There was heartache for Cavan's Ceire Smith who narrowly lost out to Ukraine’s Tetyana Kob on a split decision.
Christina Desmond from Cork also exited the tournament at the quarter-final stage by Hungary's Petra Szatmari.
Desmond took the first round on all three scorecards but the Hungarian took charge from their and recorded a unanimous victory.
Westmeath's David Oliver Joyce secured a win in his quarter-final bout after he managed to defeat Vazgen Sufaryants of Belarus despite losing the first round.

Wins for any of the Irish male boxers in today's quarter-finals will hand them two shots at qualifying for Rio this weekend as the top three go through. The finalists qualify automatically and the beaten semi-finalists meet in a box-off for the third place.
