Floyd Mayweather goes all Mike Tyson with his latest purchase
Floyd Mayweather is not averse to showing off his extravagant wealth on social media.
A quick flick through the boxer's Instagram account reveals a gallery of supercars, jets, diamond-encrusted iPhones, more cars and wads of money casually strewn over expensive-looking cotton sheets.
But The Money has surpassed himself with his latest acquisition - a pet tiger.
"I want to thank my family @themoneyteamrussia here in Moscow, Russia for the hospitality & my early Christmas present, a rare & exotic tiger from India" Mayweather wrote."Any suggestions for a name for this two-month old, female tiger?"
Mayweather's post was widely condemned, with fellow Instagram users criticising him for apparently planning to keep a tiger in captivity.
"No no no no no... there are around 3200 of these beautiful tigers left in the wild," ran one response. "They should not be kept as pets. They are not to be pets. They play a huge part in their ecosystem. This photo horrifies me."
Publication of the photo on Twitter also sparked condemnation, as well as mild amusement - while others pointed out that Mayweather is not the first boxer to like the creatures.
Mayweather recently insisted he is not planning a 50th fight, after announcing his retirement following September's victory over Andre Berto.
Instead, he is focusing on his promotional work, including planning bouts for his British fighter Ashley Theophane.
Theophane is challenging WBA World light welterweight champion Adrien Broner next January in a fight in Atlanta.
