Boxing: Nevin set for Paris return
John Joe Nevin will line out for Paris United in the inaugural World Series of Boxing Team Championships final in China next month.
United recorded a stunning 5-0 semi-final win over Baku Fires at the Palais des Sports Marcel Cedran in Paris on Friday night and are one step away from a half -a-million-dollar pay-day.
The Parisians were trailing 4-1 to Baku from the first leg of the semi-finals in Azerbaijan, but turned things around in spectacular style to claim a 6-4 aggregate win.
They'll now meet either Los Angeles or Astana Arlans of Kazakhstan, who were in action in the early hours of this morning in LA in the other semi-final.
The WSB Team Championships finals will be decided in Guiyang City, China on May 6/7. Cavan bantamweight Nevin wasn't in the United side for the semi-finals as he decided to move up to lightweight.
However, the 21-year-old says that he'll boil down to the 54kg WSB bantamweight limit one last time to try and help his side to a historic win. Nevin is signed to a three-year contract with United in the WSB.
