Basketball: Red-hot Hansbury denies Castleisland

Kenneth Hansbury was the star of the show as Calasanctius College Oranmore secured the U-19A title at the National Basketball Arena yesterday.

The Galway youngsters produced a dogged display to overcome Castleisland, with Hansbury notching 24 points in a 74-64 win, in which they were ahead for most of the match.

St Joseph's made it a great day for Galway by taking the U-16A title with a comprehensive 58-36 win over Presentation, Bray with Patrick Lyons giving a dominant display which will alert the top clubs and universities to his talents.

Erin Bracken starred for Colaiste Chiarain as they edged St Louis CS in the U-16C girls final, while Lorcan Glennon steered Palmerstown CS to a 44-34 victory over Jesus and Mary, Gortnor Abbey in the U-16C boys final.
