C&S UCC Demons edged one step closer to the Men's Premier League title with a gritty win 88-73 over second-placed Killester. The Dubliners are the defending champions and played smart basketball in slowing the pace and luring Demons into a scrappy affair. Colin O'Reilly got in foul trouble early on and there was just a point between the sides mid-way through the third quarter.

"They hit us in the mouth early and we had to regather," said Demons' American Lehmon Colbert. "So when Colin got in foul trouble, I knew I had to take it early and be more aggressive." Colbert finished with a game high 27 points.

O'Reilly checked back in as Demons went on a 12-2 run to close out the third.

Travelodge Swords Thunder are now the last obstacle between Demons and a League and Cup double - the North Dubliners beat Templeogue to stay 12 points behind with three games in hand. The two teams meet in Dublin next week.

In women's basketball, DCU Mercy put on a late surge to beat UL Huskies 70-62 and stay in the Premier League title race.

Huskies looked in position to pull off a shock before Sarah Woods stepped up with some big three-pointers and finished the game with a jump-shot on the dribble to seal the win. Just three points separate the chasing pack behind Team Hotel Montenotte who were without a number of key players for their win over Meteors.
