Australia secured a 2-0 series lead over India by completing an emphatic innings-and-68-run victory midway through the final session on day four of the second Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The tourists dominated the morning action and looked set to force the match into the fifth day before Man of the Match Michael Clarke claimed the vital scalp of Sachin Tendulkar to spark a dramatic collapse just after lunch.
It rounded off a memorable Test for the Australia skipper, who scored a triple century to underpin his side's dominant performance.
Tendulkar's dismissal for 80 signalled the beginning of the end for the visitors, who lost four wickets for 15 runs in quick time to be staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat.
Tendulkar was on track to post his 100th international century before he prodded at a well-flighted ball from the Australia captain and was caught at first slip by Mike Hussey.
South Africa completed a series victory over Sri Lanka with a 10-wicket win in the decisive third Test in Cape Town yesterday.
Sri Lanka, who resumed on 138-4, still 203 runs behind having followed on, were given hope when Thilan Samaraweera and Angelo Mathews batted through the fourth morning.
Their stand of 142 was ended when Mathews was trapped lbw for 63 by a Vernon Philander delivery which kept low and, although Samaraweera (115 not out) completed a second century in successive Tests, that wicket was the beginning of the end and Sri Lanka were bowled out for 342.
That left the hosts with just two to chase and, after tea was taken despite the meagre chase in prospect, Alviro Petersen returned to punch a Dhammika Prasad no-ball for four.
Sinead Lohan chalked up her third win of the week as she battled her way to the semi-finals of the ITF U-18 Circuit event in Pontevedra. After wins over Ksenia Sharifova from Russia and Spain's Andrea Lazaro Garcia, the 280-ranked Tramore native comfortably put the Netherlands' 349-ranked Sophie Blom to the sword in the Grade 3 outdoor hard-court tournament in north-western Spain.
