Ireland’s Mark English has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming World Indoor Championships due to an ankle injury.
English, who won a bronze medal at the 2014 European Athletics Championships, is reported to have twisted his ankle and will be unable to compete at next week’s meet in Portland.
The 22-year-old won a silver medal at the European Athletics Indoor Championships last year and was set to compete in the 800m event.
English qualified for the Rio games last summer in what will be his first appearance at the Olympics.
