Athletics: Britton keeps up fine form to take fourth
FIONNUALA Britton continued her excellent early season form when finishing fourth at the Atapuerca cross-country in Burgos, Spain, yesterday.
Ethiopia's two-time world junior champion Genzebe Dibaba was the winner while Britton (Sli Cualann) was just pipped for third by Kenya's Hannah Wanjiru Gatheu.
Brothers Dan and Michael Mulhare of North Laois AC were the first two Irish home, in 22nd and 24th respectively, in the men's race won by Eritrea's Teklemariam Medhin.
Elsewhere, Haile Gebrselassie retired from the sport after dropping out of the New York City marathon.
