The anti-Bill Kenwright banner Everton fans flew over St Mary's on Saturday was very disappointing.

I think most Everton fans are used to being disappointed around transfer time. This summer I have been very happy with Everton's transfer business. They didn't spend much - no surprises there - but no players were sold either.

Everton are no longer a selling club. Leighton Baines was wanted by Manchester United while David Moyes was manager but Everton refused to sell. Large offers from Chelsea for John Stones have been rejected this year.

Yes, Marouane Fellaini was sold but that was a deal too good to turn down. All Everton's talented young players like Ross Barkley, Romelu Lukaku, John Stones, Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy, Gerard Deulofeu have committed to long-term contracts. Roberto Martinez even held on to Kevin Mirallas.

England international Tom Cleverley was signed on a free transfer and Deulofeu was an excellent piece of business for just €6 million.

Bill Kenwright divides opinion amongst Blues fans but this is the best team and squad Everton have had in over 20 years. Kenwright deserves a break.
