Liverpool's Steven Gerrard will be hoping for a change in fortune this weekend

By the start of Liverpool's match against Crystal Palace on Monday night they could be sitting down in third place, and the omens do not look good for Brendan Rodgers' side - they have failed to win in their last five Premier League games on a Monday, since a 5-2 victory at Fulham three years ago in May 2011.

Liverpool slipped up in the title race after their 2-0 defeat by Chelsea last weekend, meaning that Manchester City can now win the title if they maintain their superior goal difference and the clubs end the season with the same amount of points. They can both reach a maximum of 86 points.

Liverpool's recent record on Mondays

-16 Sept 2013 Swansea 2-2 Liverpool

-11 Feb 2013 Liverpool 0-2 West Brom

- 6 Feb 2012 Liverpool 0-0 Tottenham

- 26 Dec 2011 Liverpool 1-1 Blackburn

- 5 Dec 2011 Fulham 1-0 Liverpool

- 9 May 2011 Fulham 2-5 Liverpool

In total, they have won 45% of their Premier League matches on a Monday, but it could be worse for the club - they have never won a Premier League match on a Thursday.
