The flyweight showdown between Dubliner Paddy Holoahn and Louis Smolka has been elevated to the penultimate bout of UFC Fight Night 76 at the 3Arena on October 24.

The SBG fighter was initially slated to face Smolka on the preliminary card of the promotion’s third visit to the Irish capital, but when Stipe Miocic was forced to pull out of his heavyweight match-up with Ben Rothwell, the Tallaght man was handed a significant change in circumstance.

The news will provide some solace to fans that had been looking forward to seeing Rothwell and Miocic go to war in a fight which could have decided the next number one contender at 265lbs.

In what will be his fifth outing under the UFC banner, Holohan is set to compete on a main card for the first time as he chases a third win on the bounce.

Smolka will be well-known to Irish fans given the Hawaiian defeated Neil Seery in his last fight at UFC 189.

The main event of UFC FN 76 will feature Donegal’s Joseph Duffy in a five round lightweight against Joseph Duffy, while other Irish fighters Seery, Aisling Daly, Cathal Pendred and Norman Parke will also be in action.
