A Bellator MMA fighter has died after being struck by a car in a hit and run incident.
Jordan Parsons was hospitalised on Saturday after being struck while crossing the road in Delray Beach, Florida, ESPN are reporting. Despite undergoing treatment at the hospital, Bellator officials today announced that Parsons has passed away.
According to police, a damaged side mirror was found at the scene and a $1000 reward is being offered to anyone with information.
"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons," Bellator president Scott Coker said in a released statement.
"Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It's a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and teammates."
This death comes just a few weeks after Joao Carvalho passed away following injuries suffered in the ring after being knocked out by Charlie Ward at the National Stadium on April 9th.
