Up-and-coming mixed martial arts (MMA) star Joe Duffy, who hails from Donegal, claimed victory over McGregor in 2010 and is confident he could beat him again.

"I'm pretty confident in my game. I believe I can beat Conor," he said.

"Every fighter has to be confident in their own ability and obviously Conor is going to feel that he can win that fight.

"I'm someone who is not going to break, and someone who loves being in that octagon.

"Conor's interim champion now and is regarded as one of the best fighters in the world, pound for pound. That's where we are all striving to be...It's a huge fight. I think it's one that will sell out Croke Park. Hopefully we will get it going next year," said Duffy.

Duffy (27) has just been announced for the fight card for UFC Dublin in the 3Arena on October 24. He will meet Dustin Poirier in the biggest fight of his career so far. "I'm one of the best fighters in the world, now is my time to prove that," he said.
