The Dubliner is in New York this week preparing for his lightweight title bout with Eddie Alvarez in Madison Square Garden on Saturday, with McGregor looking to become the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two divisions at the same time.

As part of his media commitments ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash, McGregor sat down with BT Sport and since it is election day in America, he was asked for his thoughts on Donald Trump.

McGregor doesn't appear to be a political animal judging by these comments, with the MMA star predicting that little with change in America despite the seemingly seismic shift in US politics.

"I just could not give a b******s," he told BT Sport.

"The whole thing is just weird to me. I don't think -whoever wins - anything is going to change.

"I think the public are brainwashed into thinking that something is going to happen this time.

"I don't think either of them have any power in anything, anyway."
