Floyd Mayweather has served up a devious Instagram message to taunt Conor McGregor, as he highlighted the huge gulf in wealth between the duo.

Mayweather earned hundreds of millions of dollars during his lengthy career in the boxing ring and while McGregor has quickly amassed a small fortune during his brief reign as the marquee name in UFC, he still has a long way to go to match his rival.

Undefeated world champion Mayweather has always been eager to display his wealth to a watching world that could care less how much money he has in his bank, with his ‘The Money Team’ merchandise highlighting his huge personal fortune.

So it was no surprise that Mayweather’s latest message directed at McGregor was focused on money, amid relentless suggestions that a fight between the duo at some point in 2017 is under discussion.

“Before you ask for $25 million, be worth more than $25 million,” wrote McGregor in his social media post, which was accompanied by an image suggesting he is worth $650m compared to McGregor’s $2.5m personal fortune.

“You have the "2" and the "5" right but you meant to say $2.5 million not $25 million.”

McGregor is bound to respond to this latest taunt, as the social media sparring between these two A-list stars continue to build the hype around a potential showdown.
