In Castlebar May put four goals past Cork to end the Rebels unbeaten record at MacHale Park today.

Goals from Jason Doherty, Jason Gibbons, Alan Freeman and Cillian O’Connor clinched victory for Mayo as late Cork goals from John O’Rourke and Brian Hurley put a different slant on the scoreboard.

Their Munster neighbours Kerry eased relegation fears with a six-point win over Westmeath while All-Ireland champions fell to a defeat away to Derry.

The other game in the top flight saw Tyrone hammer a gallant Westmeath side who seem destined for the drop to Division Two.

In the second tier, Down edged their Ulster battle with Donegal by two points while Galway and Louth played out a draw.

In hurling, All-Ireland champions Clare blitzed Waterford on a scoreline of 5-18 to 0-20, with Shane O’Donnell proving he hasn’t lost any of his goal scoring touch.

He notched 2-2, while captain Pat Donnellan, Podge Collins and Peter Duggan also raised the green flag in Ennis.

Three goals before half-time laid the foundation for a Galway win at Pearse Stadium over Tipperary which condemned the Premier to a third successive loss and in a battle to stave off relegation.

Niall Healy, Conor Cooney and Jonathan Glynn found the net for the Tribesmen who had the contest wrapped up before the interval.

In Divison 1A Cork had a narrow victory over Antrim, Wexford defeated Laois while Offaly and Limerick played out a 2-15 all draw.
