Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli took aim at the match officials for yesterday's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa after he was denied a perfectly legitimate goal late on in the game.
The Italian was introduced as half time, replacing Lazar Markovic, but made little headway in the game until the 88th minutes when he latched on to a delightful pass over the top, controlled it on his chest and fired past Shay Given.
The Reds were denied the equaliser as the linesman put up his flag but replays clearly show that the £16m summer signing had been played onside.
Balotelli posted an image of the offside decision on Instagram with the message: "No words. This picture say it all. (Congratulation to Aston Villa) anyway.. And guys HEAD UP we are Liverpool and YNWA expecially when we lose."
Brendan Rodgers was also very critical of the match officials for their handling of the incident.
"It was very clear," said the Liverpool manager. "It was a very poor decision by the official because he's looking right across the line. He should be able to see that the full-back's keeping him at least a yard onside.
"It was a terrific ball in, he's got a good touch so he's in on goal and, like you say, he took it through and finished it, so you need that to go for you."
