Manchester United could be in line for a €10m move for PSG defender Gregory van der Wiel after Barcelona full-back Dani Alves agreed a two-year extension with the Catalans yesterday.
The Brazilian right-back had been non-committal about his future plans, even though his contract was due to expire at the end of this month, with United reportedly considering a package to bring the 32-year-old to Old Trafford.
However he has decided to remain with the Champions League winners and The Daily Mail says that Louis van Gaal is keen to add another Dutchman to the ranks after the purchase of Memphis Depay from PSV.
Van Der Wiel has just one year left on his contract and a bid of €10m is expected to be enough for the French club to part with the player they paid €6m for three years ago.
Roma have also expressed interest in the 27-year-old defender.
Elsewhere, The Sun has linked the Red Devils to striker Mario Mandzukic. Reports in Spain suggest the towering frontman has fallen out with coaching staff at Atletico Madrid, and with speculation still surrounding the future of Robin van Persie, could be a deemed as a short-term option for the club.
