LEICESTER have signed veteran striker Kevin Phillips on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Phillips has been a free agent since last weekend after his contract expired with Crystal Palace, where he won his fourth promotion to the Barclays Premier League last season.

He scored the match-winning penalty against Watford in the Championship play-off final at Wembley, but made just four appearances from the bench for the Eagles in the top flight.

After completing the deal boss Nigel Pearson said: "The opportunity to sign a player of Kevin's experience and know-how doesn't come along too often so I'm delighted that we've been able to add him to our squad.

"He's a player I know well, he's a fantastic professional with multiple promotions to his name and he will bring some great qualities to the group, both on and off the pitch."

HUDDERSFIELD have confirmed the signing of striker Joe Lolley on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Kidderminster.

The 21-year-old signed off his career at Kidderminster in style on Tuesday night by providing the winning goal in their FA Cup 3-2 victory against Peterborough which earned the Skrill Premier side a fourth-round tie with Sunderland.

Lolley left Kidderminster with an impressive record of 10 goals in 18 starts, which included a hat-trick in their 3-0 home win over Salisbury last weekend.

Marc Bircham has left his coaching role at QPR and will join Ian Holloway's backroom staff at MILLWALL

The 35-year-old had been working as head coach of Elite Development at QPR, but will act as first-team coach for Millwall, who are battling against relegation in the Championship.

LEYTON ORIENT have confirmed that forward Robbie Simpson has signed a new contract until the end of the season.

Free agent Simpson initially joined the O's in November on a short-term basis and has since made three starts and eight substitute appearances.

And Simpson told the club website: "I'm very happy, I've enjoyed my time here, I've settled in and built a relationship with the players, staff and everyone around the club and I'm pleased to continue that."

CARLISLE manager Graham Kavanagh could be forced into the loan market following news defender Conor Townsend has broken a bone in his foot.

Townsend, on loan from Hull, fractured the fifth metatarsal in his left foot during a training session in the gym and could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

NOTTS COUNTY striker Yoann Arquin has left to join Scottish Premiership side Ross County, signing a one-year contract.

SWINDON have confirmed that striker Connor Waldon has joined non-league Tamworth on loan.

CHESTERFIELD midfielder Jimmy Ryan has had his contract extended until the summer of 2015.

Ryan's appearance in the Spireites' 4-0 victory over Bury on Saturday triggered a 12-month extension clause in his agreement.

And Blues boss Paul Cook is pleased to have secured the 25-year-old to a longer deal.

He said: "We are all delighted with Jimmy's contribution and I know he's very happy here so I think it's a perfect fit."

DAGENHAM confirm that striker Josh Scott has departed the club by mutual consent.

The 28-year-old has just two goals to his name this season, having been plagued by injuries.

HARTLEPOOL defender Michael Duckworth has been ruled out for at least a month following surgery to resolve a double hernia problem.

The 21-year-old full-back, who has been an ever-present for Pools this season after arriving from Bradford Park Avenue in August, had the operation on Tuesday.
