Albert Pujols endured quite an eventful night as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Texas Rangers last night.
The Angels' designated hitter slammed two homers over the fence earlier in the game but his exploits with the bat were overshadowed by events at the plate in the seventh innings.
Pujols took a 92mph fastball from Rangers pitcher Tony Barnette to the helmet.
He somehow managed to dust himself down and make it to first base.
“He apologized three times, actually,” Pujols told the New York Times. “I’m pretty sure that’s the last thing he wants to do on a 1-2 count. I told him it’s baseball, it happens. Just thank God I was okay.
“Any time you get hit in the head it’s a little scary, but it’s part of the game. I’m lucky. It could have been worse.”
