WATCH - Fake Olympians gatecrash Team GB party
The streets of Manchester were packed on Monday to toast the achievements of Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic heroes, yet two imposters decided they wanted to be a little more a part of the action than they should have been.
Bedecked in Team GB tracksuits and with their own homemade Olympic medals draped around their necks, the duo somehow managed to get on board the open top bus carrying the likes of Jessica Ennis-Hill, Max Whitlock, Jade Jones and Nicola Adams and posed as heroes in their own right.
The duo suddenly become lost for words as a slightly pompous Sky News cameraman confronted them mid-way through their prank, but officials insisted the security breach did not threaten any of the athletes in attendance.
The parade had been the subject of months of planning for an event that was attended by Prime Minister Theresa May, yet spokesman for the British Olympic Association said:
“We are aware of the matter, and are disappointed anyone would want to detract from the athletes’ celebration. This did not spoil anyone’s enjoyment of a wonderful event.”
