Bayern Munich fans will be hoping their winger Arjen Robben can take a good ribbing from his teammates with more grace than he took being substituted at the weekend - or they may have a serious dressing-room row on their hands.

Looking to close out a solid 1-0 away win at mid-table Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti made Robben the subject of his third substitution in the 85th minute.

But the Dutch wide man didn't take kindly to being replaced by the waiting Renato Sanches, refusing to be consoled and angrily slapping outstretched palms from staff and players alike.

Though fans may have been concerned to see one of their stars depart the stage in such a huff, the Bayern players on the bench found Robben's antics hilarious and didn't try to disguise their mirth.

Chief among the gigglers were Xabi Alonso and Franck Ribery - both of whom had been substituted themselves earlier in the game.

Bayern saw out the single-goal win, moving 13 points clear atop the Bundesliga with nearest rivals Leipzig having lost 3-0 to Werder Bremen.

With the Munich giants in such a commanding league position, a German Cup semi-final date booked for the end of April and a two-legged duel with Real Madrid to come before that in the Champions League quarter-finals, one could be forgiven for wondering what got Robben so agitated.

Evidently most of the Bayern squad are taking everything in their stride this season - including the occasional burst of pique from one of their veteran players.

This is in stark contrast to the situation at Arsenal, whom Bayern eliminated from the Champions League with a 10-2 aggregate pummeling.

Not too many Gunners staff have been seen laughing at star man Alexis Sanchez when he has made his own rageful exits from the field - and the unsettled player is being linked more strongly than ever with a move away from north London this summer.

Perhaps Arsenal could try the Bayern method; some gentle fun-poking among the Arsenal squad could help defuse the situation next time Alexis is ready to blow his top.
