Barcelona star Luis Suarez made a touching Skype call to a young cancer sufferer in Uruguay where he pretended to be a doctor.

The former Liverpool striker, who will be in action for the Catalans tonight in the Champions League semi-final first-leg against Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp tonight, rang the young patient on the pretence he was a specialist consultant calling from Spain.

After initially playing along he revealed himself to the youngster, a Barcelona fan called Mateo, and promised him a match-worn football shirt.

"With that emotion you have now, this is how you have to be," he told the sufferer who was visibly in tears.

"To listen to the doctors, do the treatments, take your medication. Do you hear me? Listen to me. Do you know you're a champion? You are very brave, a fighter, so you must keep going."

Mateo was diagnosed with cancer two years ago.
