Tipperary hurler Brendan Maher swapped hurling for cricket with the Adelaide Strikers and was given some important advice by cricketer John Mooney in how to protect his body.
The 2009 All-Ireland winner, a key part of the Premier side hoping to get their hands on Liam McCarthy this year, set off to Australia as part of The Toughest Trade, the AIB documentary series that sees GAA players try their hand at new sports and international athletes sample our own national games.

Irish international Mooney was at hand in tonight’s episode to offer the Borrisoleigh man some advice on the protective clothing required in the game.
“Mooney [John] told me there’s a bit of protection needed…there’s no shortage of it here,” Maher told viewers.
“It takes a bit of getting used to, to getting it all on, the strapping. I suppose I’ll be glad of it once I get out there.”
