The Pope was presented with an Eglish jersey by Parish Priest Father Michael Toner in the Vatican during a visit to celebrate 25 years in the priesthood.

Eglish club member Brian Jordan told the Irish News: “It’s great coverage for the team and for the sponsor.

“Perhaps the Pope’s blessing of the jersey will help bring luck to the football team... and keep them in division next year.”
