Former Ireland and Munster fly-half Ronan O'Gara has apologised to his wife Jessica and anyone offended by his ill-advised joke on The Late Late Show on Friday night.

Footage from the chat show went viral over the weekend after the Racing Metro attacking coach told Ryan Tubridy: “I wouldn’t be nervous getting up on Jessica but I would be nervous kicking a ball."

The Cork native took to Twitter today to apologise, stating: "Back home in Paris. I have apologised to @jessieog and i'm also sorry if i offended anyone else with my very poor joke on @RTELateLateShow."

O'Gara was in Dublin to participate on RTE's Six Nations coverage over the weekend and returned to Paris today to help prepare his Racing side for Top 14 action this weekend.
