'I'd still rather have Ronaldo over Messi' - Piers Morgan re-ignites public debate

As the internet rose to acclaim the sublime performance by Barcelona's Leo Messi, there was one, loud dissenting voice. Step forward Piers Morgan.

The TV personality is no stranger to courting controversy on social media and the Arsenal fan has been a vocal critic of Arsene Wenger in recent years.

Many of the Arsenal players have also come in for their fair share of flak, with midfielder Aaron Ramsey recently refusing to shake Morgans' hand when the pair met due to his outspoken views.

Messi's brace, and general all-round master class, propelled the Catalans to a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich last night.

Morgan too shared in the adulation of the Argentinian, tweeting "Oh my God.Literally. #Messi", but soon weighed into the Messi versus Ronaldo debate, and went against the sway of public opinion.

"I'd still rather have @Cristiano in my team than Messi," he posted on his account.

Many of his 4.44 million followers disagreed.
