'I was unable to speak!' - James Nesbitt jokes about his drunken Carl Frampton interview
James Nesbitt has broken his silence over that rather merry ringside interview at Carl Frampton's victorious fight against Scott Quigg - revealing he felt the effects the next day.
The Cold Feet star spoke to Sky Sports alongside champion jockey AP McCoy on Saturday night at the Manchester Arena.
Nesbitt, dressed in a Northern Ireland shirt was a little incoherent when giving his reply to why he was happy to be at the Manchester Arena.
He said: "I'm here with a lot of people and they're saying 'You can't wear a football shirt' but I thought, I might be on... Carl's from Northern Ireland and he's doing a lot for Northern Ireland, Carl Frampton."
Soon after he was trending on Twitter with dozens of memes being created.
But on Wednesday night he broke his silence and showed he was taking the response on the chin, as he recorded a clip for the BBC Stephen Nolan show where Carl Frampton and Barry McGuigan were guests.
He said: "Greetings Carl from a very hot and sticky but very beautiful botanic gardens here in Singapore where I'm doing a bit of work.
"Also it was the furthest place I could get away to after Saturday night.
"What a performance and indeed you weren't bad either.
"I wanted to congratulate you but I was unable to speak to you, to be fair I was unable to speak, a little bit too much hospitality beforehand.
"However, we are incredibly proud of you and indeed on Sunday morning I felt like I too had been through 12 gruelling rounds with the world champion, Northern Ireland's very own Carl Frampton.
"Everyone is so proud - well done."
