TWO horses that share names with the legendary Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros will go head-to-head in the 3.10 at Haydock today, a pairing made by pure chance.
Horses Seve and Ballesteros have completely different backgrounds; both are different breeds, have separate owners, trainers and are three years apart in age.
However the runners find a common link in Spanish golfer Ballesteros who won over 90 international tournaments; including three Open Championships and two US Master Tournaments.
It's not known if the former world number one, who died tragically in 2011 of cancer, ever had any interest in horse racing.
However, the 3.10 at Haydock today has now become an unexpected and unplanned tribute to the golfing legend after the two runners have been place side-by-side.
