Galway manager Anthony Cunningham and his team have been given the vote of confidence by one of the most iconic Australian actors ahead of Sunday's showdown with Kilkenny.
The Tribesmen will look to put right the painful replay defeat at the hands of the same opposition three years ago to claim their first Liam McCarthy since 1988 and one Home and Away actor is not hiding his colours for the mouth-watering encounter.
Ray Meagher, better known to Irish viewers as Alf Stewart in the popular TV programme, was speaking on iRadio where among other things, displayed an impressive knowledge on Galway hurling.
The actor, best known for his turn of phrase on the show, is backing Galway to end a 27-year-drought for the top prize in hurling.
"I want to talk to you about 1988, what a great year it was," he told listeners.
"Two things happened: Home and Away went to air for the first time in Australia and the Galway tribesmen won the All-Ireland Hurling Championship. That's right folks, it was back in 1988 - a long time between drinks.
But, it's all gonna change this Sunday at Croke Park."
